The Claude Certified Architect exam is designed to assess a candidate's ability to architect production systems using Anthropic's Claude AI platform. Unlike typical certification programs, this exam focuses on real-world scenarios and architectural decision-making rather than just testing knowledge. The exam consists of 4 multiple-choice scenarios randomly selected from a pool of 6. These scenarios cover a range of use cases, including customer support resolution, code generation with Claude Code, multi-agent research systems, developer productivity tools, CI/CD integration, and structured data extraction. The exam is divided into 5 key domains: Agentic Architecture & Orchestration (27%), Tool Design & MCP Integration (18%), Claude Code Configuration & Workflows (20%), Prompt Engineering & Structured Output (18%), and Error Handling & Escalation (17%). These domains test a candidate's ability to design agentic loops, manage multi-agent coordination, implement structured error responses, configure Claude Code workflows, and engineer prompts for reliable structured output. Anthropic recommends that candidates have at least 6 months of hands-on experience building production applications with the Claude API, Agent SDK, Claude Code, and MCP. The exam is targeted at solution architects who have deep expertise in these areas.
